Recap

The Ladies 3’s travelled to Aldershot today to play Fleet and Ewshot. After many time changes and delays for the ferry they made it to the pitch ready to start the match. It was a solid performance from the girls who were confident with their tackles and precise with their passing. The breakthrough came not too far into the first half when Lucy Townend powers into the D and hit the ball into the back of the goal with a slight deflection off of a defender’s foot. Around 10 minutes later Gracie Boyd dribbled the ball into the D taking a great shot that Rhea Thakrar tapped in. Some great pieces of goalkeeping from Sophie Bruce made sure the ball was cleared from danger and the girls in defence – Tia Shuttler, Beth Bransom, Vicki Brodowska and Kaitlyn McFarlane – worked hard to hassle the opposition and get the ball up to Megan Turner and Wightlink Player of the Match Poppy Gallerwood who ran the other team riot with some excellent runs up the pitch. On the wings Amelia Parker and Gracie Boyd both worked hard to get past defenders and play the ball across the goal line hoping for a touch. A great 2-0 win from a hardworking team in wind and rain that left many people falling over – Gracie Boyd and Lucy Townend – and others dropping there stick – Poppy Gallerwood. Lesson learned from today though was “you snooze you lose” as Megan Turner had her cake snatched by Lucy Townend after some lovely match teas.
