Recap

Off the Ladies 2’s went to Temeraire to play Swanage and Wareham. The Island was rewarded first push back and immediately ran circles around the opposition. Many interceptions and tackles were made from both teams making the first half a very even match. Swanage, though, managed to sneak the first goal in from a tap in at the post meaning the Island went into half time 1-0 down but kept their heads up.

In the second half both teams picked up the pace with stronger tackles and passes. Brilliant work from the defence allowed the Island to break through and make runs into the D, many attacking short corners were given and the Island used this to their advantage. A stunning strike from the top of the D by Aly Townend firing straight into the back of the goal evened the score. However it was Swanage who secured the second and third. Hope was not lost as the Island had another short corner rewarded and another strike took place being deflected off Megan Bridger into the goal. Unfortunately it wasn’t her stick but her leg! Full time whistle was blown, with the finishing score of 3-1 to Swanage. Wightlink Player of the Match was Sophie Bruce who had an outstanding match in goal.
