Off to our second home for the Ladies 2’s to face third place Portsmouth 3’s. With only 10 it was going to be a tough one but we stayed positive. Portsmouth went ahead with 2 short corner goals and looked like they were going to run away with it. However, the Island rallied and an excellent run by Alice Aldridge-Snell down the right wing destroyed the Portsmouth defence. The keeper saved her first shot, Alice picked it up for the second, which was also saved by the keeper, but the ball came straight into the path of an unmarked Aly Townend to smack it into the goal. 2-1 at half time and a very positive outlook for the team.

Into the second half and The Island equalised when a cross into the D was calmly poked in by Gracie Boyd. At 2-2 it looked like the game was heading for a draw but towards the end a freakish goal came from a block tackle that looped up over Sophie Bruce in goal to give Portsmouth the win. Wightlink Player of the Match was Alice Aldridge-Snell who just kept going.
