Recap

Off we went, leaving a sunny Isle of Wight complaining about forgetting sunglasses but that rapidly changed. The rain wasn’t on our side as we trecked to drizzly, cold Haslemere. Despite getting stuck in traffic we arrived, took off out coats and the game started. Immediate pressure was put on the opposition with some amazing tackles and passes from the solid defence Lucy Townend, Jet Wade, Lola Marfleet and Megan Turner which lead to some promising runs. The island held their own despite the slip and sliding from a few of the girls. The game was going swimmingly untill a short corner hit got deflected off Megan Turners stick straight into the goal, unfortunately it was the wrong goal. The island kept their heads up finishing the first half only 1-0 down. Hot chocolate at half time supplied by Anna Breach warmed the girl up and prevented any hyperthermia.

In the second half the girls battled on in the rain, unfortunately not being able to stop a second goal which was a sneaky tap in from the post. With only 4 minutes left and after multiple short corners for the island and amazing play by Megan Bridger, Cleo McMechan, Emmy Breach, Alice Aldridge-Snell, Gracie Boyd and Wightlink Man of the Match Lottie Green working together breaking down the defence, it was Haselmere who managed to score a third goal by an awesome run and hit straight past goalie Sophie Bruce. The full time whistle was blown allowing the girls to finish their hot chocolates! Despite the 0-3 final score, the island played amazingly and were unlucky not to score themselves.
