Match report from Sophie Bruce.

The Ladies 2’s traveled to a windy Southampton to play Haslemere. The match started off well with good play from both teams until Haslemere got a lucky break and found the back of the net. The Island were now determined to get one back and with constant pressure from Lotty Green, Alice Aldridge-Snell, Megan Bridger, Aly Townend and Tia Shutler they found a gap up the wing and managed to run it to the baseline and cross it over. After a bit of a scramble Gracie Boyd calmly slotted the ball into the goal to level.

After half time talks and haribos, Haslemere were the stronger team and managed to find the net a couple of times. Lucy Townend, Jazz Smith, Jet Wade, Kaitlyn McFarlane and Sophie Bruce didn’t let this get to them and the defence kept solid. An incredible save on the line from Wightlink Player of the Match Kaitlyn McFarlane kept Haslemere at bay but in the end the score was 3-1.
