Ladies 1’s travelled all the way up to Yateley, straight away dreading the pouring rain. Starting off Yateley seemed to dominate the game, with frequent short corners, but the defence and Mackenzie Wright in goal managed to keep out their advances, the island started to make their break with some good play up the pitch resulting in one of the first of many short corners. Even with their battling, it took many scrappy attempts for the first Yateley goal to go in, leaving the first half 1-0.

The second half started much better with good play between the midfield and upfront, creating many chances. Yateley again had consecutive opportunities but our defence managed to keep their press away. They managed to score one more scrappy goal and after constant battling, the island were unlucky to not put one on the score sheet, meaning the final score was 2-0.

This aside it was still agreed to be a great team performance, and felt we worked to our best. Wightlink Man of the Match was Saffron Phoenix Hart for her amazing midfield play.
